About

Familiar, with a warmer voice.

Makena is a sans-serif family made for reading on screens and on paper, with a little more personality than the usual interface type.

Where it comes from

Makena is a modified version of Inter, the open-source typeface by Rasmus Andersson and the Inter Project Authors. Its outlines, spacing and kerning are Inter's careful work.

What's different

A set of friendlier letterforms is built in as the default: a single-story a, an l with a tail, compact f and t, open 4, 6 and 9, and round quotes and commas.

A whole family

Nine weights from Thin to Black, each with an italic, plus variable fonts that cover every weight and optical size in between.

Made for interfaces

Tabular numbers, case-sensitive punctuation, fractions and disambiguation alternates all come along, so tables, forms and labels stay clear.

Questions

Can I use Makena commercially?

Yes. The SIL Open Font License allows personal and commercial use, in logos, print, apps and websites.

Can I share or modify it?

Yes. Redistribute it or make your own version, as long as the license stays with the font and the font isn't sold on its own.

How is it related to Inter?

Makena is built from Inter, which is also licensed under the SIL Open Font License. Inter's copyright notice is kept in Makena's license file, as the license requires.
